14 people died in the helicopter crash, including the Minister of Interior of Ukraine

Three key figures in Ukraine's interior ministry have been killed in a helicopter crash, killing a total of 14 people including them. The accident happened near a nursery in the eastern suburbs of the capital city of Kyiv. The crash killed the country's interior minister, Denis Monsterski age 42 along with his deputy minister and secretary of state. Officials said the accident happened at 8:30 am local time. A total of 14 people, including four children, died in the helicopter crash. There is no indication that this was not an accident but something else.

But the SBU State Security Service has said it is investigating several possible causes of the crash, including sabotage as well as a technical malfunction or violation of flight rules. Mr Monastyrskyi was one of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's longest-serving political advisers, the most senior Ukrainian figure killed since the war began. The deputy head of Ukraine's presidential office, Kyrillo Tymoshenko, said the interior minister was on his way to a war "hotspot" when the helicopter crashed. Volodymyr Tymoshuk, the police chief in the northeastern city of Kharkiv, said a ministerial team was on its way to meet him there and had spoken to him only yesterday.

The death of the interior minister is significant for Kyiv as the interior ministry has the important task of maintaining security and running the police in the country during wartime. President Zelenskiy has spoken about the terrible tragedy that claimed the life of what he called a 'true patriot'. Eyewitnesses in Kyiv said Russia's war was responsible for the disaster.
Low flights are taken, and these helicopters fly at tree level with considerable risk. The helicopter could only be identified by a door panel and one of its rotors that had fallen onto the roof of a car. Nearby were three bodies covered with foil blankets.
The main building of the kindergarten was also badly damaged by the accident. The 42-year-old interior minister was a key member of President Zelenskiy's cabinet.

He was a familiar face to Ukrainians throughout the war, updating the public on casualties from Russian missile strikes since the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
People were taking their children to kindergarten before going to work when the helicopter fell. The president said that the helicopter fell on a part of the kindergarten, it is painful. Most of the casualties occurred on the ground. Among the 30 injured, 12 were youths, along with three children who died. Witnesses said the pilot tried to avoid tall buildings before the crash, after which it came down near a kindergarten.
