The passports were blocked for individuals involved in crimes such as drug trafficking, fraud, deception, sexual harassment, theft, robbery, and illegal residence in the UAE.
According to Dawn News, sources from the Ministry of Interior revealed that a total of 5,292 Pakistanis are imprisoned in the UAE on various criminal charges. The federal government has decided to block the passports of Pakistani citizens involved in these crimes.
As a result, the passports of 2,470 Pakistanis involved in drug-related crimes in the UAE have been blocked. Additionally, the passports of 100 Pakistanis involved in fraud, deception, and sexual harassment have also been blocked, while the passports of 704 Pakistanis imprisoned in the UAE for theft-related crimes have been suspended.
According to sources in the Ministry of Interior, the passports of 216 Pakistanis involved in murder and robbery have been blocked. Similarly, the passports of 375 Pakistanis residing illegally in the UAE have also been blocked. UAE authorities provided detailed information about these crimes to the Government of Pakistan, prompting the Federal Ministry of Interior to take action in accordance with the law. It is noteworthy that two months ago, in October, the Government of Pakistan had also blocked the passports of thousands of Pakistanis imprisoned in Saudi jails.
