Last Date for Free Solar Panal Registration

The Punjab government has set the deadline for free solar panel registration, as reported by ARY News. Residents can register until January 5, 2025, by sending their CNIC number via SMS to 8800 or through the PITB portal at cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk.

The initiative, introduced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on December 6, 2024, aims to assist residents of Punjab, particularly those consuming 100–200 electricity units monthly. Over the next year, 100,000 solar systems will be distributed: 550-watt systems for consumers using up to 100 units and 1100-watt systems for those consuming up to 200 units.

The program seeks to reduce electricity bills and carbon emissions by approximately 57,000 tons annually. Beneficiaries will be selected through computerized balloting, with verification via reference and CNIC numbers on electricity bills. Solar panels and inverters will be linked to CNICs to prevent theft, reducing the federal government’s subsidy burden and promoting renewable energy.

Additionally, on December 4, CM Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the ‘Honhaar Scholarship Program’ to provide quality education to deserving students. Launched at Punjab University, the Rs130 billion program includes an e-portal for easier access.
